Waterlooplein Flea Market - Amsterdam

Whenever I go on a city trip I make sure I visit at least one flea market in the area, so when I was in Amsterdam I went to Waterlooplein Flea Market. This is a place to go if you want to experience something. You will not find any valuable antiques; you will not be overwhelmed by variety or the size of the market. You will find a small, very friendly, varied and interesting market. This market has a mix of used items, new items, junk, antiques, fashion, and nearly anything else you can imagine. Prices for many things are negotiable, but some of the stalls have fixed prices.

Clothes
Some stalls specialize in used clothes and others do “vintage” clothes, the different usually being price and condition. Some stalls sell only new clothes, but they tend to be low of quality.

Media
Many stalls sell new and used DVDs, CDs, video games, books, and electronics. Prices tend to be quite low. This is Amsterdam so don’t be surprised to see boxes of porn DVDs right out in the open next to other movies.

Pothead Gifts
The Waterlooplein Market is the best place in the city to buy smoking accessories. You can buy small pipes starting around €3. You can also buy water pipes, vaporizers, grinders, rolling papers, marijuana lollypop and loads of other interesting items and all very cheap!

Others things
The Waterlooplein Flea Market has dozens of stalls that sell used miscellaneous household items. You can find tools, remote controls from TVs, gas masks, camera’s, camera lenses, books, kitchen appliances, ash trays, bicycles, musical instruments, ethnic souvenirs from other areas, cheap batteries, extension cords and, well you get the idea.

Location
The market surrounds the Stadhuis-Muziektheater complex. The Waterlooplein Flea market is within 15 minutes walking distance from the Dam Square, tramlines 1, 2, 5, 13 or 14 reach the square. The market is very easy to find since it’s mostly exposed and visible from almost all directions when you are near it.

Entry is Free
Monday – Friday 9.00 am – 5.30 pm; Saturday: 8.30 am –5.30 pm.
