Numerous “west” lakes could be found all over the world, but most of them are named after the original one that resides in Hangzhou city. Historical scriptures mention it more then 2000 years ago. The lake itself consists of one hill, two causeways, three islands, and five smaller “lakes” :)

Not far from the lake, the Long Jing (Dragon Well) tea villages can be found and the tea is more precisely called Xi Hu Long Jing, which is famous not only in China and can be an excellent present to your friends in case you’ll decide to get there and to stop by for a few days.

finally, a verse from the famous ancient Chinese poet Su Dongpo:

“Ripping water shimmering on sunny day,
Misty mountains shrouded the rain;
Plain or gaily decked out like Xizi;
West Lake is always alluring.”
