Durham City and Surrounding Area (UK)

Durham is a city in the North East or England and about 20 minutes by train from by hometown of Newcastle and 13 miles (21 km) to the south west of Sunderland. People have lived in the Durham area since roughly 2000 BC as Archaeological evidence suggests.
The surrounding area sprawls out and rolls out over hillsides with the main eye-catching centre being its Cathedral standing tall – The Cathedral Church of Christ, Blessed Mary the Virgin and St Cuthbert of Durham, commonly referred to as Durham Cathedral, which is a good thing as the other name is a bit of a mouth full! When you take the train from London and pass Durham you can’t help but notice it on the way past especially at night when it is all light it – it looks magnificent.
I like visiting and I generally head off to the pub or take in high tea so I can have scones with jam & cream washed down with a cup of tea – yummy. I have visited the Cathedral at least 10 times in my life and I never get tired of looking both inside and out – though I could do without the walk up the hill to the train station as it’s pretty brutal! You have plenty to see and of course make lomo images of. I recommend a walk down by the river also!
Why not also explore some more and head off to the surrounding area ?
