Gießen is THE student city in Germany. About 20% of the inhabitants are students. Thats probably one reason why the Café de Paris is so cheap. Its one of the smallest cafés I’ve ever seen in my life, but there are changing exhibitions of local artists and you can smoke inside, which is a really big plus and the reason why the café has so many regular customers. Most of the people you will meet at the café are very original and interesting people and spend their whole days there, just like me. As a cause everybody knows each other and often somebody just starts to get involved in your conversation and usually it leads to a really loud discussion involving everybody. If the sun is shining, you can go outside and drink your coffee and eat your croissant under big trees or beside a noisy street outside of the café.
