The Hoppings - Newcastle UK
written by scootiepye on March 29th, 2009 , 7 comments (4 votes)

The Hoppings is held on the Town Moor in Newcastle upon Tyne UK during the last week in June. It is said to be Europe’s largest traveling fun fair ! It is rather huge !

The fair began as a Temperance Fair in 1882. It was scheduled to coincide with Race Week at Newcastle Racecourse.
The town moor is a huge grass field where cows usually walk about but not at this time of year ! I love the smell of the hot dogs and the candy floss from the fair – but I don’t often go on the rides apart from the giant wheel – which gives you views of the city – which is pretty cool . If it rains that week the place is one giant mud bath. You can spend hours walking around it and there is so much to see and do, and of course so many lomo images to make. I like to go visit at night best of all. So I usually head out around dusk time …
