The Cobb (Lyme Regis)

The Cobb in Lyme Regis is famous. It is in Persuasion, a Jane Austin novel as well as The French Lieutenant’s Woman. I have neither seen nor read these but its in there. Wikipedia says so.
The Cobb is a big harbor wall that helped make Lyme Regis a busy shipbuilding and trade port from the 13th century onwards. Although there is not much ship building now it still provides shelter for lots of fishing boats.
My Gran lives about 10 miles from here so my family and I are always popping down to see her and we always squeeze in a visit to Lyme Regis. It is really cool to walk out on the Cobb when the wind is blowing and the waves are slamming against the side, if the sun is shining it is a real bonus. After the Cobb we like to walk to the pub and have a few pints of West Country cider and then have a chuckle at the Morris dancers.
