Sunday at Chatuchak! (Bangkok)

If you are in Bangkok on the weekend, take a note from Thaiseb and consider going to the largest weekend bazaar in Bangkok – Chatuchak weekend market! I decided to go after seeing his submitted lomolocation and for sure I brought my girl Holga with me for some clicks and clacks. This place is probably also the largest market place in the world and I did underestimate it at first.

Imagine rummaging through 6,000 stalls between the 200,000 to 300,000 visitors it warm-heartedly welcomes on any given day. It’s jam-packed!

I did not purposely go there to break the bank, although everything is fairly priced as long as you have the skills to bargain. Nah, I was solely there to experience the site, feast my eyes and finish a few rolls of film.

You can find anything here from a wide variety of clothing, handicraft, antiques, household items, and fashion accessories, to live animals too! I couldn’t help but make a purchase when I stumbled across a very cute bag (hey, I needed it!). But I did well nonetheless, compared to the tons of other people stumbling about due to their full loaded shopping bags. Besides that, I was getting distracted from all the retail therapy when I met Captain Jack Sparrow’s twin somewhere on the map. Funny guy! There are many street performers here so make sure to have a lot of small change – they don’t specifically charge you for photos but it’s nice to give back.

After hours scouring for a beach bag (upon my girlfriend’s request), we were exhausted. So we had our daily dose of ice-cold coconut juice and made our way to the park, opposite the market, to chill out for a minute. But next time I’ll be more prepared energy wise and pocket wise for sure!
