Parc National Du Bic: A Place To Relax!

Well… you can relax or have fun kayaking, hiking and cycling in summer or skiing in winter. You like animals? You have birds and seals. For me, the best thing is that you can smell the sea… just sit on a beach and smell the air. Not far away from Quebec city (280 Km) and close to Rimouski (20 Km), it is a nice place to do a weekend escape.

The park is located in the St. Lawrence river estuary, where the fresh waters of the river mixes with the salt waters of the Ocean… this with the presence of islands makes it a place where birds and mammals like to hang out! It is rather easy to observe some of the around 200 seals that are present in the park, just resting on the rocks taking a sun bath.

The park offers a dozen of hiking trails, none of them challenging, perfect for relaxing and letting your mind free while you walk. In winter you better take your snowshoes or cross-country skis… and if you want to sleep in the park is possible to camp or you can rest in one of the yurts (a Mongolian dwelling)… or if you like to experience the winter at its best, in an igloo.

Also the zone is famous for its sunsets, they like to claim that from Rimouski you can watch the most beautiful sunsets in the world. Well, I can say that if you are lucky you might see some breathtaking colors! So you see… the river, the islands, the animals, the plants, the landscapes, the sunsets… that is what the Parc National Du Bic has to offer you! And tons of tranquility. So zen! So if you are around Quebec, a stop in the Park is a great idea!
