The last time i went up to Sagada, it took me 8 hours on bus and jeepney. The first bus ride is 6 hours long and it’ll take you to Banaue. The next ride is on a jeep to Bontoc and another jeep for 2 more hours that will take you to Sagada. Not only you will feel the the change in climate when you go up in the mountains but you also feel a sense of tranquility thats weirdly enough, hard to explain. You feel a sense of peacefulness that’s normally alien to you when you are in the city. When you are there take time to walk around and absorb the fresh air.
Try the mountain food, brown rice, Adobo and yoghurt! Walk some more. You will see that the people are the friendliest and they smile a lot specially the kids. To outsiders, Sagada is like the Amsterdam of the Philippines where you can get your fix of unimaginable strength. To me Sagada is more than that. I go here to be alone and enjoy the peace. So please don’t litter and abuse. Dont take anything. Just take beautiful lomos.
