Really Railay, Krabi

This boot shaped peninsula in Krabi is a must stop of the Andaman coast where you can check out the breathtaking rock formations that you always see on those postcards you send back home....

After spending a week on the east coast of Thailand we made our journey through the west via ferry and bus to check out the beauty of the Andaman coast. After nearly two hours on the deck of the ferry, and around four hours sitting in our urine smelling bus (don’t even dare making a visit to the toilet!), we reached our destination of Krabi. Funnily, just outside of our bus station we heard an explosive sound and it turns out our rear tire ran flat! Thank god it happened in the parking lot of our long tail drop off to Railay!

So we took our backpacks, hired a long tail to take us to the east coast of Railay where we would have to journey on foot to get to the west side of this boot shaped peninsula. The sun was burning hot and my backpack was rubbing on my sun burnt skin, but all was worth it when we reached the famous post card perfect beach of west Railay! There we were picked up by a sailboat where we would spend the rest of our trip. The boat was anchored in the bay of west Railay, overlooking the beautiful limestone cliffs, which cuts off all mode of land transportation. It was my first time there, and staying on a boat smack in the middle of all this beautiful scenery!

Each morning I woke up early to witness the amazing sunrise between the two rocks. It was picturesque as an array of long tail boats passed to liven up the scene. We even hired a canoe to venture around, and in between the rocks one afternoon. At night, we took our dingy to mainland and wined and dined at Railay beach. I definitely will make my way back there someday.
