Mokoro Trip in Okavango Delta
written by tveden on March 8th, 2009 , 10 comments (9 votes)

The Okavango delta is Botswana’s most famous nature reserve, and it has a very rich wildlife, which vary with the seasonal flood of the delta.

One of the best ways to explore and get up close with the delta is with mokoro. The mokoro is a canoe like boat, which is driven with a pole. It’s a very silent and calming way to experience this overwhelming nature, but also vulnerable to hippos.
As the wildlife is wild, it’s not always so easy to find it, but even if you don’t catch any of the big animals this is an experience not to be missed if you should be in the area.

The delta is full of lodges in all price ranges, some of them can be found here http://www.okavango-delta.net/

That´s a coincidence! I just finished an article about Botswana in the newspaper - check the page and the first thing I saw was this Lomolocation.....must be a superinteresting place to travel.

Great shots. I would give anything to have had my lomo cameras with me when I visited Africa. Funny you should mention the hippos because our canoe wasn't so lucky and got attacked and nearly flipped. Africa is no joke.
