Haw Par Villa (Singapore)

A Chinese mythology themed garden, haw par villa is filled to the brim with kitschy 30's era statues depicting various scenes of Chinese folklore, gods and random statues like the statue of liberty and various animals. Go to hell and back!

This used be an old theme park, but it has long closed and its now a public garden. The entry to his place is free, but the highlight of this park is not. I paid 3 dollars to enter hell. Never in my life would I ever thought I would have to pay my way to hell, to think sins were just enough.

Hell was a blast, it was located in a large and extremely dark cave filled with statues accurately depicting the Chinese 18 levels of hell, from the first level, where people who kill and commit heinous crimes were grind by a large meat grinder, to the last level, where crooks were placed on top of an inferno to be burnt and never to be re-incarnated. Maiming and ripping out tongues were commonplace in the chambers.

Well, luckily I paid for the round trip so I’m out of that place. It was sure an eye opener for me.
