The Bourne Beat Hotel

This elegant town hotel on West Cliff is located just a minute from the seaside and sandy beach, a few steps away from Bournemouth bustling town center and the Bournemouth International Center. Im going to shy away from the fact this is a hotel and not rabble on about all the things that you would expect to find in the rooms etc, but focus on the one thing that attracted me to this place………..The music-themed lobby.

Within this you can enjoy a cocktail, beer or whatever your tipple and walk around admiring the extensive collection of music memorabilia.

Whist sipping your drink and having the visual journey ploughing through Bournemouth’s years of musical history celebrated on the walls you will find hundreds of posters, original photos, autographed guitars, gold and platinum discs featuring legendary artists such as The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Jimi Hendrix and Pink Floyd.

There are pieces for everyone to relate to from era’s such as Cliff Richard and Lonnie Donegan in the 1950’s up to and including more recent groups such as The Kaiser Chiefs, Keane, Razorlight, Kasabian and Snow Patrol.

I do have to add that when i was taking photos around the lobby and hall way with my Lc-a the bar/hotel manager said to me…. “there is more memorabilia downstairs in the restaurant” and he lead me down there, he unlocked it all for me and said…. “if you want me to move any tables etc out the way I’d be more than happy to.” Though looking back i did have a tripod and different lenses and flashes, and to most of the people who don’t know much about lomography or even photography normally think you are some kind of pro when whipping out crazy gadgets like the ring flash haha.

But their willingness to make you feel that little more at home certainly did not go unnoticed and with reasonable priced drinks, its a place I’m going to make myself familiar with in future, so if your around the area and fancy a drink, instead of going to the local boring pub, make an afternoon of it and go here. it will not disappoint…trust :)
