Who doesn't like walking along a river? It's so peaceful and quiet to see the water, to hear the endless water stream going along his way to the sea... A river is always a place where you can think about a lot of tings, when you're alone or with the one you love, or your friends or anybody else. It can be a river in the city, opening a magic view to a far horizon, or it can be in the forest, in a wide open space... whatever, a river is always magic.

Although I live in Nice for a lon time now, I only discovered recently how great it was to walk along the main river located at the border of the town, the river called Var. But it is also true that the bank of this river was fitted out for having a walk or a bicycle ride only very recently…. that’s why I never heard of this new “river promenade” before! :)
This river was the former border between France and Italy (or to be precise kingdom of Piemont Sardinia) and the “county of Nice” became french only in 1860, as a present from the Italian king to the french emperor. And until today, this river has still something of the border, living on one side or another isn’t the same thing. You even can see today the milestone of the former border (telling you that you’re coming in the “county of Nice”) on the main bridge crossing the river…
Well, all this gives the place something special, and like every river it’s much more than a simple river. And since they fitted out this new "walk (called “Chemin des Carriers”) I discovered a nice place to walk and to shoot of course! And it seems a bit strange too, because nothing was made in the past to give this river bank what it deserved: the A8 highway was built along it, and at the end, where the river joins the sea, was built the airport….. It seems that nobody before wanted this river to be a nice and quiet place!
So, today (even if the highway and airport didn’t disappear…) there’s something to see the river, to walk along it, and (almost) forget the stress of the city. And it’s really a nice place to shoot!
To go there it’s very easy: take the A8 highway (of course…) and take the exit “Airport” and just after the roundabout, you’ll find a little sign with a little parking for the river bank…. and hen just follow the “Chemin des carriers”! :))
