Pavia, Philippines

This is where my heart is. Pavia is just a 15-minute drive away from the Downtown Iloilo City. It is a suburban place where most of the people would consider living in this side of town rather than the busy streets and night life of the city.

There are some nice views over my town. To count, there stands the Sta. Monica Cathedral. Made of red bricks and coral stone furnishing all over its wall, this was finished in 1899 and some bullet holes that carved the way around World War 2 can yet be seen on some parts of the wall. There are some heritage in this little town: the globe that indicates globalization, the wonderful plaza, and the peaceful townsfolk in a serene and calm living.

Considering 2008, the greatest disaster event of history was when Pavia was covered in flood. Probably 70% of houses are covered (including us, of course!) and there were no options but to move out and find a temporary stay. Luckily, after a month, Pavia has risen up again. Broken houses renovated, and what they are doing right now is widening the river so water can flow straight down to the ocean every time a storm hits the town.

For much beautiful sunsets, Pavia is a place to go. There is this wide place where you can sit down and watch the setting sun. Sooner or later, you’ll find yourself trekking and mapping out constellations on a perfect night sky.

Several realty projects are provided in this little suburban town. Most of the big-time realty like Savannah and Parc Regency (which includes the city’s biggest pool) can be found here.

Also, there are several restaurants “on-the-go” since when you drop down the Airport, you will most likely pass by Pavia. So in turn, a few people are making a stand of their restaurants and cool places to visit just before you dock yourself down the city or vice versa.
