Jodhpur Train-Station, India

I Have to recommend you to check out the main train station in Jodhpur. Honestly it is a must and an adventure, but still it is hard on your nerves! During our stay in Northern India we pretty much stuck to the service of our driver Karma and his beautiful white Ambassador.

Renting a car isn’t more expensive than any other means of transportation, but it is so much more convenient and it makes you more flexible on your route. And after Karma gave us good karma with the one true sentence „My car is my temple“ we very much knew, that we did the right thing. We understood it even more after our good karma had left us and we were by ourselves at the train station of Jodhpur. Hence trains are the cheapest way of transport it attracts most of the population, adjacently the poorest. To be quite frank: the station stinks badly! This effect is only supported by around 40 degrees in the hot season and humid climate during monsoon.

The state of the station is not so well, but it is still a young city, it was just founded in the 16th century, which is nothing in the long history of India. So they can still learn to improve the infrastructure of it all. You also have to watch your bags carefully and to avoid awkward talks with drunken yogis. But enough of the whining, it is definitely a fantastic place for taking pictures and you might get contact to people you would never meet on a pure touristy trip. For me it was outstanding to meet a group of friendly turban-fashioner, who really liked to be pictured by me. At least that is what I could get from our conversation, because there was none, at least not with words. So they let me do my thing and I did it well. Also it was astonishing to see little scouts wait for a delegation of other scouts.

Where do you expect to find scouts, not in Jodhpur, right? And it was interesting to see Frau Doro hanging around like a bag of water. She received the transfusion the morning before the trip and was still quite weak. But hey, so I had the chance to do my thing, and I did it well.
