Pedrogão beach is located at north of Vieira Beach, Marinha Grande, on the Portuguese central Atlantic coast (it belongs to Leiria district) and it is one of my favorite beaches nearby; during the winter it is a very quiet and peaceful beach, during the summer it is full of life and fun at any time of the day or night, the village don’t have that traditional style like Vieira beach, architecture is very simple, the beauty of Pedrogão resides on its sandy and sunny beaches and on its bars and restaurants which are located right next to the beach.
Like Vieira beach, Pedrogão subsists from what the locals get from the sea, they also use “arte xávega” fishing style but most of the business depends on the many tourist that arrive all summers. The summer on Pedrogão beach s full of activities which are open to everyone, beach soccer, beach volleyball and much more mini championships and activities that last all summer, you can practice different sports every day or you can relax in a bar with your feet in the sand, enjoying the view to the beach and its amazing sunsets.
Finding lodging is very easy and its not too expensive, there are lots of rooms or houses for rent and a camping site with all the conditions you need, or you can stay at Vieira beach and rent a bike, the distance between the two beaches is short and the terrain is flat, you can do a really nice bike trip enjoying the surrounding nature and amazing landscapes.
Every time I need to relax and make some really good use of my LCA, I go to Pedrogão, every time I visit it, I always find new subjects to photograph, I can visit the fish market or I can take advantage of the natural beauty of Pedrogão and its amazing landscapes which makes it one of my election beaches.
Cameras used: Supersampler, LCA and Yashica 35-ME.
