Located 25 kilometers southwest of Taiyuan, Jinci Temple complex featuring “Hall of Holy Mother”, “Flying Bridge” and the embracing garden are perhaps the main tourist attraction of Taiyuan.

The records about the temple itself date back to XI-th century BC. However, nowadays the oldest temple structure is Hall of Holy Mother. The building is completely wooden and stands there for 1000 years (!) In front of the building there is a unique flying bridge, named because of its look, similar to the wings of a bird that is about to fly up.

Once you visit the main attraction, spend some time in a beautiful garden, which is built accordingly to the Chinese classic garden architecture, which is to occupy the place as densely as its possible, making the short ways longer and more interesting to explore. There are tons of architectural patterns to achieve the mission such as zig-zag bridges, corridors, pavilions and intricate footpaths along the streams. You’ll find several 3000 years old cypress trees and over twenty, which are more then 1000 years old.

Jinci Temple Complex might serve as an excellent destination for a half-day trip from
Taiyuan.
