The Liverpool Cathedral

During Halloween this year i was visiting a friend in Liverpool with my girlfriend. It was my first time in the city, which was surprisingly small btw, so we had enough time to go visit all the main attractions.
One of them, the Cathedral, the main one that is (there is a modern one as well) is also one of the tallest cathedrals in the world, 101 meters in fact. It is only the 3rd Anglican Cathedral in England, and the design was picked from a contest with over 100 entries, the winning design coming from a 22 year old student, Giles Scott (quite an honor for a student). It took 74 years until it was complete in 1978.
I would highly recommend that you visit this Cathedral – especially if you have not seen an Anglican Church before. But there is also another reason – it is possible to take a combination of elevators and stairs and climb to the top of the tower and enjoy one of the best views in town (and some quite far away surroundings). There is also a grave yard around the Cathedral – this is the place where the Beatles found the inspiration to write the song “Eleanor Rigby” – and I think I understand why…
