The Great Mosque of Xi'an, China

The Great Mosque, one of the oldest mosques in China, dates his history to the 7th century A.D. It is located in the Muslim Quarter of the city.

The mosque’s architecture tends more to Chinese then to classical Arabic style. There are four country yards with halls on both sides that contain exhibition items (such as steles from ancient times on both Chinese and Arabic). Passing the country yards the prayer reaches the main hall, the tourists are not allowed to enter.

I have never been in a mosque before. That day we’ve succeeded to see the Mosque during the noon prayer service and took some reportage-only pictures to share with you.

We had seen how the believers were hurrying to come to the pray on time, how they accepted each other with respect, how they’ve listened to Mullah’s lesson and how slowly and peacefully were they leaving the mosque when the prayer services had finished.
