I have loved this market since it started up way back when..I lived in the area and it was great to have somewhere to rummage! it was intimate and felt like you would always come away with a treasure or a bargain you’d been searching for a long time. You feel like a magpie in a jewelry shop, a delight at every turn.
Situated in that Victorian wonder Crystal Palace, Haynes Lane Market can be found, just off Westow Street (part of ‘the triangle’) it lies just behind the Pizza Hut car park down a lovely little lane of terrace houses. There are always plenty of signs to point you in the right direction. Once you pass through the Alley entrance you’ll enter a collectors paradise, never mind a lomographers… It is visually overwhelming. Do not wear any large rucksacks or getting out without breaking something will be a challenge.
The stall holders are very friendly and though not all want their picture taken they don’t mind photos being taken of their collections. The stalls sell everything, from the tiniest ‘nik-nak’ ornaments; jewelry; toys; cards; postcards; kitchenware; vintage furniture to very nice Jimmy Choo shoes; bags; vintage clothes; books and records, you can even get a massage if its all too much!!
