It’s exactly like the rest of Brazil, a beautiful mix of cultures, colors, origins, but mostly, this neighborhood is a very exciting piece of Japanese country.

Here we call this place something like Freedom Neighborhood (freedom = liberdade in Portuguese), it´s a Freeland to all people from the east come and take their place in our country. The Bairro da Liberdade had the world’s biggest Japanese colony outside Japan! It’s almost Japan in there, and it’s great!

There is a good place to shop, to eat and get in touch with the Japanese culture. And, of course, the fast way to “travel” to Japan with almost no money! Just get the Sao Paulo subway to Liberdade Station and you’ll magically transported to Japan.

Beautiful Japanese gardens are perfect to expend hundreds of rolls of lomographic happiness and the shops and restaurants have amazing Japanese lettering (great to shot to!). Just look up: the amazing streetlights worth one click or two from your lomographic favorite tool. All this stuff brings you to a quick journey to a Japanese world inside Sao Paulo. You’ll felling like you in Japan, without leaving Brasil.

In Liberdade the Japanese people make great festivals and celebrations about their culture and history, all this things are very impressive and colorful too.

I recommend the food, but beware those funny yakissoba sold in the sidewalks because it can make you fell sick.

If you are at Brasil, don’t miss it. Worth every time expend there.
