Lakawon Island

Last week I was invited by a lomo friend to go and have a taste of the Lakawon Island. I was wondering if the island was some kind of commercialized and if there are lots of people going there. I have to sleep over her house so that by next day, we can wake up earlier and pave our way to Lakawon Island. After an hour’s drive from Silay City, we arrived in the coasts of Cadiz, the Cadiz Viejo. We parked our car there and rode a 600 peso ($12.00) boat ride fare just to go to the island.

Upon reaching there, the island was majestic to my eyes! The white sands, clear waters and a lovely place to bask yourself under the sun, Lakawon Island is truly a “mini-Boracay” for most of the beach lovers!

Good thing I brought my cameras and I took some snapshots here and there! We were the only guest (or visitor) when we went there so we were given extra care by the workers. We even had a delicious dinner that night!

We slept in a tent under the moons and stars and by the next day, it started to rain. We went home safe and sound but the place, the island was truly a big memory for me. It was not “your-typical” island… it was a majestic island! Trust me, the white sands and the clear, limpid waters will turn you in awe!

How to get there?
If you’re from Philippines, Manila to Silay City flight takes you an hour. From the airport of Silay City to the island takes you yet again another hour by riding a bus.
