Great Wall (Badaling section, near Beijing)

No visit to China can be complete without visiting the Great Wall - one of the most impressive large-scale constructions in human history. The Badaling section - the most picturesque and visited one - was built during the Ming dynasty and massively restored by Chinese government in the XX-th century.

We’ve preferred to take an organized tour (yeah, the only organized tour we’ve ever had in China till now), to save some troubles on switching 3 buses till getting there (or at least, we were told so :).

In Badaling section you can choose to make the first half-way by the sliding car (usually all organized groups are pushed onto it – so did us). The second half takes around 30 to 40 minutes to cover.

Mao once said that everyone that makes the way up to the Great Wall is a hero. And every respectable hero can easily get a shining medal on the road :) We’ve were so stunned by the view, so even got a bit late to the group bus, hopefully will be one day excused by the other tourists that did the same route very quickly :)
