The Ihme Zentrum is a big area which was build up in 1972 in Hannover / Linden. The aim was to combine apartments to live there, office space and a shopping area - like a town in a town. There is place for nearly 3000 people to live there and by the time when they start to build it up - the construction area was the biggest one in whole over europe.

For the people who are into architecture – the style of the Ihme Zentrum is called “Brutalismus” (Hans Asplund) – just like the town hall in Boston, the Royal National Theatre in London or the Genex Tower in Belgrad. Most important material for this style: CONCRETE!
Some people will think it´s ugly, but for a true lomographer´s eye you can find quite nice areas to shoot beautiful pictures.
Since it´s under reconstruction, everybody who is around should grab a chance and shoot some pics there – it will never be the same again very soon….
