Central Philippine University

Just like it’s name, Central Philippine University (CPU) is located in the center point of the country. I don’t know why it was named like that maybe because when the Americans came in the country on the first decades of the 20th century, they were already particular about the geographical location of the place - where they wanted to put up a school for Filipinos.

So what’s the buzz about this university? I will start on 2002. CPU was announced by the Department of Tourism and were given a title of “Tourist Spot” in the Philippines.

Why “Tourist Spot”? Well here are some of the places you can enjoy while inside the campus:

1. Olympic-size swimming pool: you can relax here or watch swimming varsities in practice.

2. Big Field: where big events are most likely to happen. This includes University Day, sky-diving, and fireworks exhibit to count a few.

3. Henry Luce III Library: known for being the LARGEST LIBRARY IN THE SOUTHEAST ASIA, it is indeed a large library with lots of book collections, magazines, and there’s also an online internet/wifi in the premises.

4. Alfonso Uy Building: known as the “shopping mall” of the campus, this building holds the food court, some shopping revenues like shirts, mobile phones, and other items which are on sale (I’m also planning to sell lomo cams in this place in the coming months). Included also is the internet cafe and two coffee shops convenient for studying and relaxation.

5. Butterfly Garden: located between the Tennis Court and Swimming Pool, butterfly garden is a fun place for both the children and adults alike.

6. Friendly atmosphere: hey! If you’re wondering what I mean, come over to this university! People here are friendly, hospitable, and makes you feel good at home! Plus the university has several hostels where you can have a nice place to stay.

Central Philippine University was my school during my “high school and college” journey. It’s a lovely school, I tell you! It’s located in Iloilo City, Philippines.
