"Night of the Museums", Düsseldorf

One night every April almost all museums and lots of galleries and studios in Dusseldorf open their gates from 7 p.m. ’til 2 a.m. With just one ticket you have admission to every participating museum as well as a free shuttle service taking you from one place to the other all around the city.
The choice is almost unlimited, from old classics to modern art, local history or international artists. It’s the perfect occasion to find new things or visit your old favorite places – because at night they certainly do have a complete different feel to them than in your common daylight museums’ atmosphere. Most places also have their own parties, so if your feet are tired chill out at the bar.
But even the longest nights come to an end and if you’re still not tired, check out the after show party or explore the Old Town – it’s after all known as „the longest bar in the world“. By the way, from the top of the shipping museum you have the most lovely view over the riverside by night!
The first „Night of the Museums“ took place in Berlin in 1997. It’s been very sucessful, and as most successful things it is spreading. „Night of the Museums“ can be found in lots of cities all around Europe, keep your eyes open!
