Frankfurt is just the fifth-largest city in Germany, but Frankfurt has the biggest and nicest skyline in Germany and maybe Europe. The towers of the important banks dominate the sky. People are always thinking that Frankfurt is such a large city, but that’s not really true. “Only” 670,000 live there. Anyway, if you’re walking between the skyscrapers, you’ll get the feeling of being in New York or Tokyo. But the traffic is more quietly. All the of Europe-German money-business is taking place in that towers.
If you’re leaving the main station you’re standing right in front of the towers. But to get between you’ve to go through the “Kaiserstrasse”, a red light-district. Or you take the subway to “Hauptwache”. Beside the “Hauptwache” is a big shopping mall, called “Zeilgalerie”, with a lot of boring and trashy shops. But the “Zeilgalerie” got the best viewing platform in Frankfurt. Go upstairs to the 9th floor. There’s a cafe called “Dachcafé”. In front of this cafe is the viewing platform. From here you’ve an impressive view over the skyscrapers and the entire city to the Taunus mountains. And you can take picture without a window in front of you. The viewing platform is also open at night and is for free!
