The Beatles put Liverpool on the map. 40 years later you can follow their trace. The Cavern is the well-known pub where they show their talent to the audience.
The original pub was closed due to some arrangement in the building, but it was reopened in 10 de Mathew Street just 20 meters away. In the same street, you can find a statue of John and a small shop in the basement that sells all Beatles merchandising. If you want to know all about them, then you can miss The Beatles Museum in Albert Dock, just one block of Tate gallery.
Walking through the streets will lead you to some surprises, like the graffiti I found in Duke street. But what I liked most was taking a 30 minute ride on the 76 bus, cross Penny Lane, stopped at Menlove Avenue, walk trough Beacons field Road for 100 meters. The building where John spent his summertime is gone, but still remain the reddish gate of Strawberry Fields.
