Historical Cemetery, Weimar
written by annegreat on October 31st, 2008 (0 votes)

Situated south of the city center of Weimar and next to the Bauhaus University you can experience a very romantic cemetery from ancient times.

You can walk across the hillside and under trees. There is ivy on walls, trees and iron-laced fences. Especially during fall, when colored leaves cover the floor, it looks wonderful. When entering the entrance of the cemetery turn right and walk a few minutes up on the hill, because there are the most beautiful old and overgrown graves.

In addition famous German writers Johann Wolfgang von Goethe and Friedrich Schiller were buried in the “Fürstengruft” which is situated in the center of the whole cemetery. Unfortunately you have to pay an entrance fee in order to get to the crypt.
