Ogden Point is located at the entrance to Victoria’s Inner Harbor, and serves as the major deep water port for the city. Visiting Naval Vessels and Cruise ships dock here regularly.
My favorite part of this spot is the granite and concrete wall that forms the breakwater protecting the point. The wall is nearly 1 km long, and not much more than 2 meters wide. There are no safety rails, just a painted yellow line, so it’s closed to the public when the ocean gets rough.
The narrow walkway provides beautiful unobstructed views of the mountains in the USA to the south. It takes toughly 15 minutes to walk from the popular inner harbor to the breakwater. Take Belle ville Street, between the Legislature and the Museum, to Oswego Street, turn left, walk Oswego to the water, turn right on Dallas, walk along the water to the foot of the breakwater.
