Leiria skate park is located near the city center, it is a place were everybody can practice skateboard, in-line skating, biking and other sports with all the conditions you need, keeping you legal, safe and out of the streets.
It is a great initiative, a city should care for the people that do extreme sports, and should incentive younger people to practice sports, I see it as an investment on people, promoting the practice of sports, building future champions and encouraging people to do some exercise. I think that every city should have a proper skate park.
The skate park has excellent conditions, it has is own parking lot, green spaces, climbing walls, four tennis courts, a huge stage for concerts and many other stuff. The place is usually filled with young people, with adrenaline in their vain; they usually don’t mind with a guy taking some photos, in fact, they usually make some great tricks in front of you just for the photo. At first they looked at me with some suspiciously but I took some photos, then I print them and offered the photos, now I can go there anytime I want with no worries, they totally accepted me and make all efforts to make their best tricks, all I have to do is shoot and share my work with them.
It is very rewarding working with them, it feels very good to see their faces when they see the photos I took, they encourage me to improve my photo skills and I encourage them to jump higher and to improve their tricks, it’s a good thing to all of us and everybody wins at the end.
