If you are lucky enough, in your next trip to Madrid you will land in the new Barajas´Airport terminal. The T4 was inaugurated in February 2006 and a few months later it received the RIBA Sterling Award, one of the most prestigious architecture prizes worldwide.
The building is the work of Richard Rogers, also author of the Pompidou Center in Paris. Actually, in Barajas T4 you will find the same striking colors as in the Paris museum, only here they help the traveler find its way in the huge terminal building. The vivid graduated colors look great in pictures, as does the sinuous and undulating roof structure! Also the overhead lights in the baggage claim area open up lots of possibilities for the flying lomographer. So next time, if your flight is delayed, don´t despair just grab your camera and wander around…there are lots of great pics to be taken!
