Reykjavik

A city of just over 120,000, home to almost half of the population of Iceland, Reykjavik is a modern European city with traditional charm, offering a little of everything to a wandering traveler. The cafes serve wonderful coffee, delicious chocolate cake and cold Viking beer. The architecture is quite beautiful with colorful paint decorating the corrugated metal siding of the houses.

We were fortunate enough to visit Reykjavik when they were having their annual Culture Night, the biggest party in Iceland. Great bands were playing throughout the streets and in every pub and café, all of the statues had hats, and interesting characters were walking about. We ended the night singing American folk music in a giant tent with everyone’s beer sloshing about.

I even found a camera shop that sold Lomo cameras, though as most things in Iceland they were a bit expensive so I’ll settle for ordering items online.
