Lakeview

I recently went camping with my boyfriend and his grandparents to a place just outside of the desolate town of Lakeview, Oregon. I’d heard about the town from some acquaintances that’s grown up in Lakeview, and they’d told me all about what you could find there: nothing. They claimed it had one of everything: one insurance company, one market, one this, one that, IF they even had one of it at all. Didn’t sound too pleasant. But my boyfriend and his family just LOVE this place called Junipers RV resort, located right outside of Lakeview, so I thought it could be a good experience.

And it was. The resort itself was not only in a beautiful location, but had very nice quality bathrooms, hot showers, and is even known to cook up a homemade breakfast for its visitors on certain occasions. There was a plethora of trails and paths to hike or walk along, as well as a wonderful landscaped area with thick green grass, a volley-ball net, a fire pit, and a variety of recreational sports equipment.

And there’s definitely a comforting, old fashioned feeling that you get being there, whether you are at the RV resort itself, or drive a few miles into town for a stop at the market or to eat at one of the few restaurants or cafes. I’d recommend Honkers cafe, where the same woman everyday wakes up bright and early to make a variety of homemade muffins, pastries, and bagels (try the jalapeno bagel!!!). I love that the town feels old enough for us to see the same people everyday as well as eat fresh, hand-made food. But at the same time, it felt new enough for me to recognize the great quality of everything we ate, as well as be able to order a soy chai and have people know what I was talking about.
