If you’re interested in High Tatras situated in Slovakia, then you just have to make an appointment with a city, called Poprad. Poprad has an historic centre, an international airport and, what is most interesting for us, lomographers – an attractive Tatranská elektrická železnica (Tatra Electric Railway).
It is a kind of railway, which uses narrow gauge trains (like trams and like trains from Western movies) on the trip to the High Tatras villages. If you can afford loosing some time, take a tour with it! In winter, this is a place where all the winter sports fans gather: from skiing to whatever you want (natives told me, that Poprad wanted to host the winter olympics 2 years ago, but lost to Turin, as we all know). The main places to visit start from the St. Egidius square: burgher houses, narrow streets, churches, monuments, the castle and the Water Park, which I accidentally did not visit (I was told it is superb, watch for AquaCity Poprad). Don’t just stand there, plan your trip!
