The park is situated between two of Gothenburgs oldest streets and the moat (canal) runs next to it. Surrounded by several squares, shopping malls, hotels and the central train- & bus station, making this park pulsate with life almost any hour of the day (and night).
The park is notorious for it’s drug dealers, but nowadays you should probably look elsewhere if you want to avoid getting ripped off. It’s virtually impossible to avoid this place if you’re ever in Gothenburg and everything you need is just a few steps away, be it discount clothing, electronics, fast food, sports gear or books (Nordstan), exclusive designer wear or any kind of tobacco & smoking apparels (Arkaden), etc.
When most of the city clubs are closed you can always trust the pubs around here to serve you drinks until at least 4 o’clock in the morning and provide you with various casino games such as black jack, roulette, poker and slots. And when all else fails, grab a kebab or burger, bargain with the unauthorized cab drivers to drive you to your home at a descent price (there are many of them, so don’t be afraid to try and go really low) and if you want to continue the party at home you can probably buy a case of “tax-free” beer or whiskey/vodka from the driver (if he doesn’t have any, he’ll be happy to hook you up with someone who does).
Just remember, standard caution applies! If you are alone and seem lost he will probably try to take advantage of you. If you are unsure, better go with the regular (expensive) cabs.
