When you live in a big city without any access to a beach you probably notice the beach clubs that grow like mushrooms in summer. Be it on top of a parking lot or at the most busy street in your town.
Well, Hamburg does have a beach and it has lots, tons of water but nevertheless the city has beach clubs! Several of them. The best one definitely is “Strand Pauli” directly at the Fischmarkt parking place in the famous Hafenstraße! It looks unimpressive from the outside with a few huts, some bamboo mats as a fence and especially with all the cars parking in front of it.
But when you enter it you forget that there is a busy street right behind your back. You just see the sand, the Elbe, the Blohm & Voss docks on the other side of the Elbe and lots of ultra-comfortable deck chairs, beanbags and sofas.
This place has style, charisma and a special feeling about it. They have a bar, a barbecue, nice waitresses and waiters, lot’s of drinks and cocktails and the best view in town. It’s a perfect place to chill out, play with your feet in the warm sand, listen to funky music (they often have a DJ there), watch the ships that come in and out of the harbor. Just leave the line U3 at Landungsbrücken and then keep right, pass the entrance to the old Elbtunnel and the beach club is a few meters ahead.
