Experiencing Chicago through Lollapalooza

For the past two years my boyfriend and I have flown from Central Point, Oregon to Chicago, Illinois in order to attend the 3-day long festival known as Lollapalooza. Besides getting to see many of our favorite bands (NIN, Radiohead, & Pearl Jam to name a few) we were able to experience the very exciting and very green city of Chicago.
We spent both visits there remaining ‘homeless,’ sleeping in Millennium Park and wandering around on foot and also with help from the El Train. Visitors can pay $20 for a week long pass for access to this public transportation and ride it as many times as they’d like, a price worth taking advantage of since you could easily pay $20 a night in a parking garage if you were traveling by car.
Besides seeing the beautiful Grant Park, Lolla’s location, we also made sure to pay visits to the Lincoln Park Zoo, the Navy Pier and the Sears Tower. The Zoo is open everyday, costs nothing (yes, nothing) for public entrance, and provides a wonderful variety of animals to photograph and gawk at. The historic Navy Pier attracts visitors and lomographers alike with its amusement rides, colorful sites, and bustling atmosphere. And the Sears Tower, already an amazing site standing at 110 stories high, looks even more stunning through a fisheye lens.
