In the Northwest of Spain, there is a region called Galicia. There are a lot of places with shadows, mysteries and a lot of magic … One of these quiet and hide-and-seek places are by two rivers called “Sil” and “Miño”, in the provinces of Lugo and Ourense. The name of “Ribeira Sacra” means Sacred Riverbank in English.
From centuries ago, the monks and hermits came to lead an ascetic life (a sacred life, of course). They were alone, then, they cultivate vine (I suppose, the soul was more happy with vine …). The vines grow by his two rock faces and makes it different than the rest of the vine zones. There are centenaries chestnut trees too. Some mountains grows at both sides of the river. The river “Sil” is navigable along 40 km, by tourist boats.
This part of Galicia contains a lot of little castles, churches, bridges. This was the Roman Empire’s western frontier. “Finisterre” (Finnis Terrae, to the romans) is in Galicia, near here.
A very calm place, I´m sure …
