Rokiškis

If you ask Lithuanian people, “Do you know Rokiskis?” 9 of 10 will tell you that it has the mental institution-prison in Lithuania. To tell you the truth it was the only thing that I know about Rokiskis too. The trip to this city was unplanned and very interesting and surprising.

Rokiskis is small city in the northern Lithuania. There are a lot of soviet style buildings which is not so interesting because they are the same like in the other cities of Lithuania. Rokiskis have small but very nice old town. There is beautiful big square with monument in the middle of the city and in the front of square there is beautiful neo-gothic church of St. Matthias. And in the other side you can find walkway through little lake to the famous Rokiskis estate. So in conclusion I have to say that it is very interesting place to visit not only for foreigners but for Lithuanians as well.
