Vratna Free Time Zone

Vratna the name that left a huge impact in my memory bank and in my Lomography archive. It is a small place, even not a village – just a cable-car station with some cafes, a restaurant and a huge parking lot for your car. But if you’re wise enough, you’ll come there by bus… Why? The answer is long enough, but very interesting. You see, Vratna is a Free Time Zone, where you buy a ticket up the hill with the cable car, get up to the top of the mountain (the mountain range is called Mala Fatra) and start hiking.
In winter, there is a lot of snow, so you can ski… In summer, everything is green, so you have a chance to walk up the mountains. In spring, you get both, as I did. Green warm weather down the mountain and shocking snow-cold up the mountain, where you can start your X-day long adventure by walking the piques of the mountains, I mean, imagine the top of the mountain, the small place, where there is nowhere to go higher… so you just walk that line to the other side of the mountains, other countries and so on… People say that this journey can take even up to 7 days, but I just had a short stay there. All my cameras where ready for summer shooting, that is why we all started shaking out of cold. Damn spring! Gonna come back there in summer!
