Bring comfortable shoes because the gardens are really vast and it is about a 30 minute walk from the Palace to the Trianon. You also don’t want to miss the Queen’s Hamlet, a small amusement village where the queen played at being a shepherdess.
You can get to Versailles easily by train from the center of Paris and it will take you less than 1 hour. Go early in the morning and buy your ticket in advance so you will avoid the huge lines.
