Coxyde (Koksjide) Beach – On the Belgian shore. Near the French border, close to De Panne, there is a charming town named Coxyde (Kokjide in Flams). There, you will enjoy a beautiful beach of sand, 7 km long, 50-150 meters wide when the tide is high, and 250-700 meters wide when the tide is low.
The ambiance is cool on the Belgian seashore : it is wonderful for kids, who can built sand castle, play with kites, and swim of course in the sea. There are bay watchers and it’s safe to swim in the (cold) water of the northern sea.
Kids and grown-up can also hire pedal-cars and race up and down the sea-front. When you get tired of your day at the beach, rest at a terrace in the seafront, eat a waffle or shrimps, and drink a famous Belgian beer. If you want to visit the other town of the seashore, it’s very easy : take the coastal tram, which runs from De Panne to Knokke – Dutch border.
