This is an old time, 1780s, cemetery in New Orleans LA USA. This lived through Katrina with only a bit of flooding. All the crypts are above ground because the city is below sea level. This is by the French quarter but is also near some real sketchy areas so don’t just go there without a posse with you, mental patients and street people will rob you hardcore.
Famous dead include the Voodoo Queen of America, the guy who invented the dice game craps, a former world champ chess player, etc. Modern people are here too which is fun, oh I also learned that after a family owns a crypt they just put everyone in there, as time goes by the bones and junk just get all dusty and when someone new dies they just push the old bones and dust to the back and put another body in there … awesome. Once my tour guide Al said he saw an arm bone sticking out of one of them, so cool. Anyways I say check out the rare city of the dead as they call this, “creeptastic.” Oh also if you have ever seen the American movie called Easy Rider you will remember this cemetery from the scene where Peter Fonda and Jack Nicholson run around there being on acid … again so cool.
