The Parking Garage (Florida)

For my favorite spot of lomo fun, I go to a tiny parking garage in downtown St. Petersburg, Florida. When I had a class nearby I went fairly regularly and there was a lot of construction going on and a lot of fun signs all about, which I love because I always feel as though signs are shouting at me. Once I was brazen enough to slip past security (who was blaring classical music and chatting up a fairly bootylicious woman) and construction hazards and make it up to the rooftop.

I prepared a speech in my head for when I would surely be stopped by some angry stranger, and I would pretend I was a very important and official photographer and demand that they step out of the way of my art. I even prepared an accent. I was even ready to feign a panic attack. But I wasn’t stopped and I took a crop of my favorite pictures of the spot with good old Holga, and was an hour and a half late for class. Another good thing about this garage is that it’s in the heart of an old city that oozes with downtown city. Mere seconds way from Baywalk, a huge nightspot with badly dressed semi professional dancers coming from the woodwork, the beautiful St. Petersburg Pier, and the notorious red light ridden Central Avenue. Be sure to either bring your dancing shoes or your butt kicking shoes.

Early evening for minimum outside annoyance; amazing view from the rooftop, fun construction throughout.
