The History Rally Grounds (Nuremberg)

The Former Nazi Party Rally Grounds Nuremberg is a place you will discover the dimensions of the era of National Socialism and take strange pictures. This was a beloved destination for excursions since 1876. The Great Dutzendteich was a popular and the first open-air bath in Nuremberg.

Since 1899 there is a park-restaurant for relaxing and in front of this chill-out area you can rent pedal boats. In 1906 was created a typical parkway called Luitpoldhain. Three years later, in 1909, worlds famous Graf Zeppelin landed with a huge airship on the Zeppelinwiese (Zeppelin Meadow), that was later named after him. In 1912 the area was expanded with the new zoo. In the so-called Nummernweiher you can still see the remains of artificial islands, on which sea lions and ice bears could hang out. Till 1928 a soccer stadium with a flanking open-air pool was build.

From 1933 till 1939 the Nazi Party metamorphosed the whole area for their staging. They built monstrous buildings that were never finished. Nowadays the whole area is used, as in former times, as a destination of an excursion. Skateboarders are shredding the stairs of Steintribuene, inline skaters are trying to draw attention, roll hockey players are giving their all and car tuners are showing off. You’re as well possible to ride pedal boats or just have a walk. Also you can enjoy yourself supporting the 1. Bundesliga soccer team 1.FCN, aka “der Glubb”, the first class icehockey team “IceTigers” or the Nuremberg basketball team. If you appear right in time you can enjoy yourself banging your head off by the world famous “Rock im Park” festival that also took place on this old historic ground. If that weren’t all you can have a walk about the “Nuremberger Volksfest” which happens twice a year. It offers you a lot of beer tents, giant-wheel and a lot of rides in breakneck carousels. And last but not least once a year world famous “Norisring”, the 200 miles from Nuremberg happens to the car race maniacs. This race weekend is known as little Monaco and the world famous race drivers on hot wheels attract over 100.000 people.

So, if you’re in Nuremberg this is a place you don’t have to miss, there are so many possibilities to do. Whether you’re interested in history, sports, concerts, walk the dog, cars, a flirt or just a sunbath. Go there!
