Thaipusam is a festival celebrated by all Hindus annually around the world. In Malaysia, this festival is celebrated in two states, Penang (waterfall road) and Kuala Lumpur (Batu Caves) and it’s declared as a public holiday. Many Hindus from all over Malaysia flock to this two places to thank their god blessing for the past year. The actual date of the festival differs every year according to the hindu calender.

Imagine dancing in the middle of the streets with a bunch of friends accompanied by the heart pounding beats of Hindu music with heavy tabla percussion beats, vocals singing through the portable microphones. Smells of sweat and spices from the people and stalls set up along the road sides with free food, drinks and colorful illustrations of the Hindu gods.

Thousands of people from all races partying together for 72hours non-stop around the clock. Stacks of multi coloured Indian desserts, copper plated illustrations of Hindu gods, flower stalls. Fortune tellers and jewel-traders, who travel all the way from India by sea along sitting on the sides of the street with oil lamps to lit the stalls. Indian families dress up in their most glittered Indian costumes. Coco-nut smash on to the floors of the street as offering to the gods every now and then.
