The strawberry fair was created by middle class hippies as an excuse to bake a few home made cakes, eat the regional strawberries which were just ripening and break out your old tie died clothing. Over the years it has grown to brim over the local common and become a mini alternative festival with a huge beer tent.
I love it because it reminds me of being six, makes me remember that my parents were cool once and really drags out the most amazing people. It is my aim to one day catch the Hari Krishna’s dancing with their tambourines, the punks rolling around in the cow pat ridden grass with their pristine mohawks and the crustiest with their flapping dreadlocks beating their drums.
The First weekend of every June.
