Sandy Beach
written by kristintachibana on May 9th, 2008 (2 votes)

One of my favorite places to shoot is SANDY BEACH on the South Side of
Oahu.
*(Please bear with my local slang, a.k.a. “pidgin english”) I personally
don’t swim in the shore break as i value the use of my legs. I do enjoy
rolling up on Sandy Beach and pulling into the parking lot, trying not to
eye the mokes (large brown local folk) for too long in fear of getting
pounded (beat up), walking down the beach in the skimpiest bikini i own and
plopping down on the sand to shoot some fantasmo photos…but what i so
anxiously await is the speedo-clad tourist with his flourescent pink ducky
raft thinking he is going to have a little swim in the shorebreak and sip on
some mai tais… (not to mention Sandy Beach has highest rate of
neck/back/spine injuries)….i get my pleasure watching the lifeguards
running to intercept them on the beach or yelling at them on their
bullhorns…“DON’T EVEN THINK ABOUT IT, Grape-Smuggling Tourist!!!”, okay
they don’t really say that, but it would be funny. There are a lot of hod
bods to photograph and to watch going head-over-heels into the sand trying
to bodysurf the shorebreak…all while getting a beautiful tan…what more
could you ask for?
I’m sure all the mokes (refer to above definition) will love that i am giving out the location of their spot.
